During the spring of 2003, St Columba's Youth Group in Chesham worked to create a prayer for the youth ministry of the diocese. Thinking about words, images and themes that were relevant to the needs of young people, they formulated a brilliant prayer card to help us all to pray for these needs. You can see a picture of that card by clicking on the box at the foot of this page. In 2006 we had used up the stock from the initial print run of that card and took the opportunity to redesign it; the main graphic is now a celebration of many of the events and young people associated with NYMO over the last few years.
But we're still using the text of the prayer written by the Chesham young people and it is still much used in our prayer times at the office!

The prayer:

Father,
Thanks for all the gifts of youth -
for friendships, for passion, for keeping it real!
may they be used and shared with others for your glory...

And thank you for youth leaders,
teachers,
parents
and priests.
Be with them and inspire them...

Please help all young people,
especially those who suffer for their beliefs
or struggle in their faith...

Bless all young people in our diocese,
bring us closer to you
and each other in Jesus Christ...

Amen!
