Recently the Bishop's Liaison group have decided that NYMO will not be taking  a group to World Youth Day in Rio, 2013. The following reasons were cited for this decision:

1. The estimated cost of the pilgrimage including our Passionate Youth Discipleship programme would total around £3,000 per participant. We felt this would be a huge demand for each participant and the parishes as a result of the previous World Youth Day being only in 2011 and other parish fundraising activities.

2. It was also felt that there are too many uncontrollable risks in travelling to and around Rio. This decision was made with the support of the Diocesan Safeguarding Office.
