Possibilities for free/cheap equipment

Cheap computers for charities, churches and schools - there's more than one source of low-price IT if you can make a case that it will be of real benefit to your good works. One is Computers For Charities (see their website) ; another is the Computers for Rural People scheme run by the Arthur Rank Centre  ; "rural" isn't too tightly defined, anyone in our smaller towns could probably apply. Finally, Tools for Schools supply reconditioned Pentium 3 PCs for £95, (P4's for £145 when available) and are willing to consider applications from any youth or children's charity with an educational function, so have a look at their website as well.

Free computers available from the "DonateaPC" website which simply lists people willing to give away un-needed computer equipment to good causes. It is then up to you to arrange collection. If your parish or youth group needs a PC or monitor or printer (etc) and is willing to take a risk on second-hand kit, check them out.

B & Q One Planet Living grants, up to £250 worth of DIY supplies towards projects that improve the quality of life for people in the community. For more info about this, and surplus-product donations, explore the Social Responsibility section of their website. .... Free paint may be available from the Community RePaint recycling scheme, check its Website, it doesn't look as if it has any branches in our Diocese but you may be willing to take a run into Oxford, Leicester or Brentwood if it's important enough...

Cheap supplies for your group, church or school - There is a charity called InKindDirect who specialise in making surplus goods available to charities at knock-down prices. YouthFocus in Bucks subscribe to this service on behalf of members (including us). It includes goods of all descriptions including clothes, household goods, toys, and office supplies. There is even a deal with Gestetner for good refurbished photocopiers from £150 plus a 1p-per-sheet maintenance contract, subject to minimum usage. The only condition is that their goods must not be re-sold or used for fundraising. But if they would help your work, they can save you a lot of money. E-mail Brin  if you want to order anything, you can't go directly to InKind.

Giving World Online (GWO) is a scheme set up to help to community groups and charities access free surplus goods from businesses and organisations whilst at the same time helping reduce the amount of goods sent to landfill. Any community group or charity can visit the website and register to receive goods as well as publicising items that they need.
