"We consider that the Immaculate Mary, Mother of God, really did appear to Bernadette Soubirous on February 11th 1858 and the following days, a total of 18 times, in the grotto at Massabielle near the town of Lourdes, that the Apparition posseses all the characteristics of truth, and that the faithful are justified in believing it to be genuine. We authorise within our diocese the worship of Our Lady of the Grotto of Lourdes"
- Mgr Laurence, Bishop of Tarbes, 1862
Lourdes is situated in the south of France on the border with Spain, separated only by the spectacular backdrop of the Pyrenees mountains. It is a holy place to travel to on pilgrimage and a beautifully relaxing historical town, which welcomes thousands of people every year, including many from our diocese.
Check out the official Lourdes website here, where you can also watch TV Lourdes.

Whilst we were out there the pilgrims were given our DOORWAY resource which gives a reflection, reference to Church teachings and a prayer on the following topics: forgiveness, miracles and healing, The Immaculate Conception and statues.
Our next pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from Friday 18th August 2017 - Friday 25th August 2017.
