Youth Sunday 2008 - Sustainability

Reclaim the Future

This year, National Youth Sunday is on 23rd November and focusses on the theme ‘Reclaim the Future'. This draws together the ideas of the past two years and expands them to look at the theme of Sustainability. It has a special emphasis on environmentalism and creates an opportunity to examine the sustainability of our relationships with one another as well as with our planet.

On the official Youth Sunday website www.reclaimthefuture.org.uk you can find lots of useful resources, i.e. liturgy guides, activities, prayer & reflections. By presenting the NYS resource as part of a website, the aim is to increase its usability and availability to the broadest group possible, as well as to promote and reflect the theme of sustainability by reducing its impact on the environment.

The resources have been created through collaboration and contributions from dioceses, religious movements and organisations. NYMO contributed a Power Point Bible Reflection to the collection of resources, which you can download below (2.6MB), as well as some notes on how to use it. The presentation is designed to last for about 10 minutes, and we recommend some reflective music to be played in the background. Feel free to experiment what you think works best.

When you download the file you can either just click 'open' and it will play in a new browser window. Or you can save it to your computer; if you then open it, it might look like a blank file at first. Just click 'play' (in the left bottom corner of your screen) and you will be able to see it properly.
