From 4th - 5th April the PYD group got together for their last formation weekend before heading off on their big pilgrimage.

During our time at St Joseph's in Gerrards Cross we looked at the topic 'The Church and the World', basing our discussions around Matthew 16.
After Matt's 'presentation of the complete history of church in 10 minutes' , we spend the evening pondering about questions like: Why do we need the Church and what is it based on? Why One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic? What is the role of the Church in the world?


On the second day we were joined by Steven Davies from CAFOD who will be representing the organization at World Youth Day in Sydney. Together we discussed critically the effects such a long journey can have on the environment. We looked at case studies of poverty caused by climate change and played a game to test our knowledge on recycling and energy saving.

Since this was the last weekend together before travelling to World Youth Day we also discussed all sorts of issues that such a long journey brings.
