This is the list we mentioned on the general "Training Opportunities in the Diocese" page. These are the dates known to us of forthcoming training opportunities offered by local authorities, Councils for Voluntary Youth Services and similar bodies. We've filtered it down to the ones we think might be of interest to Catholic parish youth leaders and helpers.

Training to do with fundraising is separately listed elsewhere.

So as to make it perfectly clear, these training opportunities are not provided by NYMO or the Church.

Beds

21st October. Food hygiene training. You sell home-made cakes after Mass to raise funds for the youth group ? You need to know this stuff ! Full day course by Bedford Borough Council, leads to CIEH Level 2 Food Safety Certificate. At the Town Hall, £50 per head. Ring John Jackson 01234 221772.

4th November. Minute-taking. Every committee or group having discussions and making decisions needs someone who can make a decent note. Details as above.

"The course will cover the basics of recruiting, retaining and motivating volunteers.  We will also look at support and supervision arrangements and will explore issues around volunteer motivation and appreciation."
